The Terahertz Science Research (TSR) Group, which is under the Research Center for Development of Far-Infrared Region (FIR center), is engaged in research and development of state-of-the-art technology on broadband terahertz waves (far infrared light). Terahertz (THz) waves, which refers to electromagnetic waves with a wavelength of several tens of μm to 1 mm, and its use for non-destructive measurement have been an attractive advanced measurement technology to date. TSR group develops a wide range of basic and applied research such as development of new terahertz wave generation/detection element, biomolecule spectroscopy by terahertz wave and non-destructive measurement/imaging, among others.
