The International Workshop on Far-Infrared Technologies (IW-FIRT) has been held eight times in the past from 1999 to 2021. In these workshops, we aimed to discuss the recent development and future directions of far-infrared and terahertz science and technologies with a special emphasis on high power radiation sources in this frequency region and their applications. In our view, we think that it is the time to organize the next IW-FIRT to update our knowledge and understanding in this rapidly developing field. In particular, recent progress in the technologies in Asia has been remarkable. Therefore, we are organizing the 9th International Workshop on Far-Infrared Technologies (IW-FIRT 2024) with the theme “The progress of far-infrared technologies in Asia”. This year, the IW-FIRT2024 will be jointly conducted with “Symposium on Frontier of Terahertz Science XI (S-FTS 2024)”. The S-FTS 2024 will be conducted in Japanese. The workshop shall consist of invited talks, oral presentations and a poster session with the following scope of topics:

1) Development of sources, detectors and instrumentations in the THz and far-infrared region;
2) Application of terahertz technologies especially on the following topics:
2-1) THz spectroscopy, sensing and imaging;
2-2) Magnetic and spintronic phenomena in the THz and far-infrared region;
2-3) Material development with high-power THz/FIR sources; and
3) Other subjects related to the THz and far-infrared region.

Past Workshops of IW-FIRT and DHP-TST:
8th IW-FIRT 2021, 7th IW-FIRT 2019, 6th IW-FIRT 2017 and DHP-TST 2017, 5th IW-FIRT 2014, 4th IW-FIRT 2012, 3rd IW-FIRT 2010, and DHP-TST 2013
